San Cristobal de Las Casas Photos - Agua Azul

This beautiful waterfall is, in fact, located closer to Palenque than to San Cristobal. From San Cristobal the falls are about 3 hours away. If you are staying in or near Palenque, the falls are a quick 30 minute ride from town.

This area is so incredible. The waterfalls are massive and breathtaking. Have your camera ready. There are photo opps at every corner. There are bathrooms and tiny lunch spots to grab a bite. The food is so-so, nothing to write home about. But it will do if you get hunger pangs.

I am going to tell you now something that will be of invaluable worth on any trip in and around this area of Mexico. ALWAYS HAVE AT LEAST 3 PESOS IN COIN. You ask why. And I will tell you. Bathrooms, including those that claim to be public bathrooms, ARE NOT FREE. You will have to pay something to use the facilities. The going rate these days is 3 pesos. I have paid as much as 5 pesos. If you do not have the 3 pesos, you will not be allowed in the facilities. So in order to keep your options open, keep those 3 pesos in your pocket at all times. As Mr. Monk says: "You will thank me later."
